Project History

The key theme of the FFI’s work is conservation through local education. Having identified endangered or neglected species and habitats the FFI’s approach distinctively addresses the issues from a local level identifying local organisations with local skills and knowledge that can be adapted to the appropriate requirements.

Project & ACE

The ACE Foundation have supported their efforts since 1997 with 6 different projects in 4 different countries, of varying nature, these are listed below.

ACE Cultural Tours participants are also encouraged to make individual donations towards the FFI in particular in consideration of their travel with ACE.

• Large Mammal Conservation – Cambodia – 1997 – Training courses: language proficiency and wildlife techniques.

• Wildlife – Cambodia – 1999 – Capacity Building and Training of Cambodian Conservation Staff.

• Capacity Building & Awareness Raising in the Cardamom Mountains – Cambodia – 2000.

• Veal Veng Community Conservation Project in the Cardamom Mountains – Cambodia – 2001 – Protecting the ‘por’ community and Siamese crocodile.
